yeah, I usually don’t say that when I am in the US and speak in English. It’s just an automatic response to “Where are you from?” in Korean.

Thanks for sharing those experiences. That was pretty funny. It made me recall some embarrasing experiences after I had been in Japan for a year or so, and could speak just enough Japanese to really get myself into trouble when I made a mistake.

I can see why you would prefer to be thought of as a Taiwanese while in Korea, but I’m a little surprised that you kept the farce here in the U.S. But like you said, it’s become a habit.

hi…i got to ur blog from another blog link and really like your blog…it is very interesting and insightful..further, i have always been extremely interested in doing the SIPA program at Columbia Univ and was EXTREMELY surprised to find someone whom has actually done it…i am wondering whether an email can be sent to the email address i provided and if you would be kind enough to share some of your experiences and thoughts on the SIPA program?? It would be fantastic to be able to hear from someone whom has actually studied it before…hope it won’t be too troublesome for you..
