Time for Fun Reading

While I am busy packing, moving and arranging my summer trip and fall semester at a new school, I declare that the loooong-awaited ‘fun reading’ time has officially come. First of all I am reading this:
Mao A Life by Phillip Short.
Mao A Life
It has been sitting in my bookshelf for a long time but I did not have a chance to read it through. There are more biographies of Mao published recently, but I’ll start with this, anyway.

Hopefully I can finish this thick book before I leave, and bring a few selected books with me, including:
Preprison WritingsOrientalism Catalonia Pre-Prison Writings by Gramsci, Orientalism by Said, The Professional Soldier by Janowitz, Homage to Catalonia by G. Orwell. As a doctoral student, I really should have read them all by now, but late is better than never. I’m also going to buy a bunch of books in Japan on the way to Seoul.
