Some of these I can understand, or even do them myself, but I'm not so sure that all of these have to do with being American as much as they do with being a guy.

1) Turning on the AC is kind of a digital or binary thing to a lot of guys. It eats up electricity like nothing else does, so you don't want to turn it on unless you really need it. Hence, waiting until it's 85 or so before you turn it on. But when you reach the point where you actually turn it on, then you think to yourself, "if I'm going to have to turn on the AC, I might as well be comfortable" and so you set it to a low temperature (However 62 degrees is, I think, a bit of an exaggeration. That's really cold. I set mine to about 72~75 degrees usually.)

2) This one is guys all the way. Worrying about the electrical/gas/heating bill is a habit that I think is passed from father to son. When I was a boy my father was always telling us to turn off the lights when we weren't in the room to not waste electricity, don't leave the door open because the heater/AC is on, etc. Now that I'm a parent I find I have the exact same annoying habit, and routinely remind my wife Ryoko to turn off the light when she's not in the room anymore.

3) I use the poison bait traps for roaches rather then fumigation, but I could see myself doing this one too.

4) This one also totally sounds like a guy. "Ant's don't eat peanut shells, what's the big deal?" sounds like the kind of justification I would use.

5) This one's a little weird, but I think this is more of a personal quirk, as mentioned above.

Overall though, these are properties that I would classify as 'being a guy' rather than 'being American'. However as an American guy, I'm pretty subjective.
