Yes, I cannot wait to see you and learn a lot from you! And congratulations on the good news on schools. I am looking forward to establishing a long-term mutual support relationship with you!

Hey, Sayaka

I'm Sookyeong from Seoul. I hope you remember me(We talked for a moment on SKYPE about how to response to a call from Prof. F). Michi told me about your Blog and I found many interesting postings here!

I'm glad to say that I'm also having a similiar experience to yours with premodern historical accounts. When I read Amino's or Miyajima Hiroshi's work, I had to admit that I myself had been entrapped by the narrow nationalist perspectives even though I was rejecting that in theory. (I've been studying Japanese modern history, more precisely, Japanese colonial empire)

I got a sense that I can share many things with you as someone who are concerned with East Asian history and more importantly, as an international student from Asia. I also found that right now I have the same dilemma of choosing a school for my Ph.d as you had just one year ago! I hope to be in touch with you and meet someday somewhere in the US or Seoul.
