Lupin the Third and Ocean’s Eleven (Twelve/Thirteen)

I have been watching old TV animation series of “Lupin the Third” recently. It reminds me of my childhood since I watched two episodes every Sunday noon when I was a kid. There are some problematic expressions regarding gender roles (obvious from the character Fujiko, and Lupin’s relationship with her), the stories are so cool [...]

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It has been a long time (again) since the last posting. I’m in Oklahoma, at Michi’s parents’ place. Siri, Carl, Carleen and Mike, and little Liam warmly welcomed me, who was exhausted by the papers that I was working on before I left DC. Michi and I got a bad flu for a few days, [...]

Winter Break

After writing 3 more papers, I’ll have a month long winter vacation! There are many things I want to do other than a bunch of readings.
1. Get a classical guitar (this is my new personal project: learn how to play the guitar)
2. Rewrite/redesign this entire website (I made the rest of this website 4 years [...]

Quick post-reading comment

I am going to give a short presentation on Foucault’s Discipline and Punish tomorrow. I love this book; everything is put together in an amazing way. I love page 277 (Vintage book 1995 edition) in particular, where he reveals how penalty reproduces illegalities, and prison produces dilinquencies. This ‘revelation’ of invisible mechanisms, just like high-quality [...]

Recovering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Yes, it hit me at a very bad timing. But I bought a bunch of “ergonomically designed” equipments and I have been regulating the amount of typing. My wrists and arms feel significantly better compared to a few weeks ago.
