日本人、中国人、アメリカ人に囲まれて韓国語を学ぶのは結構つらい。慣れ親しんだ言語で、スムーズに交流をはかりたいという誘惑がつねにあってつらい。授業の合間に各国語が同時に耳に入ってきてつらい。これ「○○語ではなんという意味？」ときかれてつらい。中国語分からないフリしてみたけど、やっぱり２日と持たなかった。他言語の誘惑にどう立ち向かうか、マルチ言語というアイデンティティをどう押さえるか、自分との戦いなのだ！
誘惑といえば、アジア（特にソウル）にいるとやはりフェミニズムとアンチ消費社会をどう突き通すのか、という問題にも突き当たる。女性の対象物化が恐ろしい勢いだから。このエステの数。広告のあり方やドラマでの女の描き方。最近東京に寄ってないから分からないけど、東京に帰ると同じように思うのかな。香水の匂いがプンプンする学校で、１０代後半〜２０代前半の学生に囲まれて、頑固にノーメイク、ノーアクセサリにビーサンでいる私だけれど、常にそういう社会の目で「見定め」られ、「問われ」るのは、さすがに疲れる。
